Help to the Congolese women

People in Need will provide help for the raped women in the Congo

After seeing a movie The Greatest Silence: Rape in the Congo, the organization People in Need has decided to donate at least 500.000 CZK from the humanitarian fund of The Club of Friends of People in Need  to provide help for the raped Congolese women.

Civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo is one of the most lingering and forgotten conflicts in the world. The war has lasted ten years, with some intermissions, during which four million people have died. This conflict is one of the worst conflicts after the Second World War.

Long fights have resulted in hundreds of thousands of women and girls being massively and brutally raped by both rebels and the Congolese army. In addition to  health problems, these women are also often abandoned by their own families and excluded by their communities. Conflict has also left behind an entire generation of orphans born as a result of the violence.

We are looking for more support to be provided to the Congolese women. We intend to support hospitals for women and female therapeutic centers. If you would like to help people either in the Congo or elsewhere, become a member of The Club of Friends of People in Need. Your regular contributions will help all those in need!
