International Film Festival of Human Rights in Film, Warsaw www.hfhrpol.waw.pl Annually, 3rd edition: December 2003 Submission deadline: 31 August 2003 The International Film Festival of Human Rights in Film is organized by the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights in cooperation with the Center for Contemporary Art - Ujazdowski Castle, and the Young Cinema Foundation. The principal difference between this festival and other such events organized worldwide is the group of our participants: while open to the general public, the festival is organized first and foremost for activists of Polish and East European non-governmental organizations and serves as a meeting place for the exchange of ideas. International Human Rights Film Festival, Nürnberg www.fitame.de Biannually, 3rd edition 24-28 September 2003 Submission deadline: 30 April 2003 The International Human Rights Film Festival, Nuremberg is the first festival in Germany to be specifically dedicated to the issue of human rights, thus filling an important gap that has long been filled in other countries. The festival presents ethically and socially committed productions on human rights issues from all parts of the world. Jeden svět / One World, Bratislava www.jedensvet.sk Annually, 4th edition: October 2003 The One World Festival in Bratislava is a partnership event of the One World International Human Rights Film Festival that is organized by the People in Need Foundation in the Czech Republic. Bratislava’s program is a selection of the best films screened in Prague. Moreover, it also has one special section dedicated to Roma issues, which focuses on the changing perception of the Roma in Slovakia during the last fifty years. Revenues from the entrance fee are used for humanitarian and development programs abroad, which the Slovak division of the People in Need Foundation organizes. Stalker – International Human Rights Film Festival, Moscow www.stalkerfest.ru Annually, 9th Edition: 10-17 December 2003 The Stalker International Human Rights Film Festival draw publics attention to human rights issues worldwide and brings the Russian public in contact with different aspects of human rights activities. Vermont International Film Festival www.vtiff.org Annually, 14th edition: 16-20 October 2003 Submission deadline: 10 July 2003 All over the world filmmakers produce works to enlighten and educate people on the problems we all face. We believe that film, like no other medium, has the power to capture the attention and emotions of every one of us. The Vermont International Film Festival is dedicated to screening high quality, socially conscious, independent film and video. Filmfest Dresden International Festival for Animation and Short Films www.filmfest-dresden.de Annually, 15th edition: 15.-20. April 2003 Submission deadline: 15 January 2004 Since its beginning in 1989, Filmfest Dresden has developed into one of the major short film festivals in Germany. The festival’s programme reflects the many aspects of this genre and includes short animated and fiction films as well as documentary and experimental films. The main sections of the festival are the International and the National Competitions. In addition, the Online Competition was introduced in 2001.
